Planting the Seed for Science Education in the Virgin Islands

The Metamorphosis Project engaged students in studying the metamorphosis of a butterfly and The Seedling Project engaged students in planting a community box garden.

Earth Day is For The Birds!

Inspired by the WILD KRATTS Creative Adventures and the DINOSAUR TRAIN Nature Trackers Club, WOUB produced an educational outdoor birding adventure and workshop for local families called “Explore the Amazing World of Birds.” The STEM-themed event helped children and their parents better understand the science of birding and the importance of birds to our environment.

GPB Members Pay it Forward When it Comes to Literacy

Georgia Public Broadcasting is experimenting with replacing traditional membership premiums with book donations to local literacy organizations on the donor’s behalf. For an annual $120 gift to the station (or a sustaining monthly donation of $10), GPB donates a total of 10 books to children in underserved communities across Georgia in the member’s name.

KET’s Commitment to Early Education Proves Key in Securing Significant, Long-Term Funding

KET last year announced $1.14M in grants from the James Graham Brown Foundation and the PNC Foundation, to address urgent needs in early childhood education. The Brown Foundation’s grant is the second-largest private gift in KET’s history. As part of its Grow Up Great initiative, the PNC Foundation invested an additional $325,000.

KUED’s PBS KIDS Exploration Corner Boosts Conference Attendance and Engagement

Attendance to the Utah Education Association (UEA) Convention had been on the decline, after the state cut funding for the convention and teachers were no longer paid to attend. So, KUED and UEA teamed up to increase attendance by encouraging teachers, teachers with young children of their own, and families to attend the conference. Three years later, the results are impressive.
