Get Up and Go! Day Helps Wisconsin Families Stay Active and Enjoy the Outdoors

Picture-perfect weather, a sizable and enthusiastic crowd, stellar entertainment and some of the best kids activities around helped make Wisconsin Public Television’s annual Get Up and Go! Day, one of the most successful to date. This annual “stay active and healthy” themed event took place in Madison, WI and in three other locations across the state on August 1.
And in Madison, the day started bright and early as the WPT crew, as well as a number of community organizations, headed to the Kohl Center to set up the stage, booths, activities and water (a summer necessity, of course). This time lapse shows how quickly the front lawn at the Kohl Center went from empty to energetic:
As in past years, WPT broadcast live from the Madison event so those who couldn’t “Get up and Go” in person at one of the four Wisconsin locations could still join in at home. The live breaks aired during the station’s PBS KIDS on-air programming block and helped build exposure for Mr. Steve, the event itself, and for event underwriters, which got special mentions. Mr. Steve wrote and performed a custom song for the occasion. Funding this year was provided by Meriter-UnityPoint Health and Friends of Wisconsin Public Television.
